Pregnancy – Week 16

Week… 16

Baby is the size of… Avocado

Highlight of the Week… Finally feeling well enough to do light workouts, which has helped with sleeping through most of the night. But man… it’s been a while since I’ve done squats! So much soreness!

Frustration of the Week… Nothing this week. I worked from home so I was able to adjust my schedule and be comfortable as needed.

Eating a lot of… Eggs, fruit, and gummy bears. My sweet tooth came back! I’ve been going back and forth between sour and sweet.

Cute Thing Hubby Did This Week… Hubs started cuddling with my belly in the morning. Sweet daddy and baby time as we prepare for the day.

A Tidbit… We have a bunch of cross stitches we want to do for nursery decorations. I started on the largest one this week and it’s coming along so fast! Catch updates along the way on Instagram!

Staying Focused by Setting Priorities Daily

When I started working from home, I thought keeping track of my to-do list was going to be a breeze. Without a commute and more time on my hands, I figured I would be able to handle my personal list with more forethought and I would manage my work tasks as I always had. However, working from home gets messy. It’s tempting to do the laundry while on a conference call and at all times, unfinished home projects and chores are staring me in the face.

Additionally, an unforeseen aspect of working from home is every small task has to be coordinated. I am physically unable to just drop by someone’s desk to chat over some details. Everything is either a phone call or meeting, which takes scheduling matching and a bit more effort.

In short, I found working from home to be overwhelming. So much to do constantly in my face. This doesn’t pair well with being an overachiever. I was always thinking about what wasn’t getting done, drowning in the sheer size of my to-do list.

Something had to change.Read More »

Pregnancy – 15 Weeks

Week… 15

Baby is the size of… a navel orange

Highlight of the Week… Feeling the first flutter during my company’s International Women’s Day Forum. Boy or girl, I have a little feminist in me!

Frustration of the Week… Large chunks of waking hours in the middle of the night. Almost on cue, I wake up at 12:00 AM and am awake for at least two hours every night. I’ve been trying to eat and read to lull myself back to sleep, but those solutions are inconsistent. Sigh. Thanks, baby.

Eating a lot of… Fruit Snacks and Salads. Finally enjoying healthy foods again!

Cute Thing Hubby Did This Week… During one of my midnight wakings, hubs woke up too and went downstairs to get me food, only to return with at least 7 different options to eat. He’s the best.

A Tidbit… Jax is super frustrated that our sleeping arrangements have changed and that I get up multiple times during the night. Poor little prince. Haha.

Big Changes

The past few months have been chaos. My husband’s return from deployment in November kicked off a whirlwind of activity and change for us. On top of the regular holiday season (did you see all of our fun Coastal Christmas decor?), we made preparations to move back to our home state of Arizona.

By made preparations, I mean, we had the best realtor ever who arranged for us to see 17 houses in one day on a visit in December. Yes, 17 houses! Thank goodness we did our prework, which involved printing out each listing, making notes on features we liked and had questions about, and also nicknaming each house. By the end of the day, the houses all kind of ran together, but two homes stuck out to us. The first we put a bid on but the owners wanted way more for the home than it was worth. The second we secured the home and we are over the moon that we ended up with this home!Read More »
